Weekly Events, Diary Style :)

Hey, Everyone! So I meant for this blog to be like a public diary but so far I havent really been following that format xD So this week has been sort of fun and exciting for me! On Wednesday I was just super happy to be everywhere doing everything I was at school, which is kind of wierd 'cause usually I am somewhat nonchalant about the whole school thing lol. But I think it was because "The Ring Man" was coming the next day :) and I finally had a chance to make sure that the ring I wanted was the ring I wanted (if that makes any sense :P). Then Thursday came and I went and watched Jessica skate then went to her house. It was so cute. Jessica was teaching this little girl how to skate, and she got the girl skating by herself. Well, that little girl was soo excited she started yelling to her mom "Look Mommy! I'm walking!!!" (yes she did say walking xD) Then she lost her balance and fell on her butt and started crying :( but it was so adorable! Anyways, we had supper then it was time to go to the school. I saw the ring I chose and I ended up going with the one I designed initially. Jessica, however, couldn't decided which ring she wanted :P it took her 45 minutes. lol That's okay because it gave me something to do until my Dad got there. ( he was an hour late) lol.

I had this crazy dream on Wednesday or Tuesday night! I was just smoking and stuff, and in my dream I had always smoked, for as long as I could remember. (I don't actually smoke)  I remember taking a drag and then realizing that I had been telling everyone that I was a non-smoker, when really I had been smoking all along. Then I started to worry "what if my parents found out!?". haha wierdest dream I have ever had.

Anyways, so yesterday I had to go into the math class at my school for my fourth block because our teacher was away and instead of getting a sub she sent the 6 of us to math. I am actually working on math in that class. Being in that class yesterday gave me a new incentive to actually work harder on my math. It has been 6 weeks and I have only done a chapter and a half. Thats bad. Anyways I am going to find time this weekend and attempt to finish most of the chapter.

Also this weekend we are getting cattle from our neighbors. I am somewhat excited, I don't know how I should take it yet. At this point though it kind of seems like another chore (yeah, I'm kinda lazy :P). I don't know we will have to wait and see. This guy whom I have nicknamed "Auswegian" thinks cows are great, and so do my parents, so they can't be that bad :) I have my own 4-H steer right now, and he is a pain in the butt! haha   Well that's it for now, I gotta see if I can somehow change my layout for my blog. Do you think that it's boring??

Biology and Country Music

Good Evening, Everyone!! Yesterday, I learned some thing really cool! In biology, we watched this video. It was called "Why Sex?". It basically covers why it is important to have a man and a woman to conceive children. You need to share chromosomes with someone else to create a child because it is better for their health. Basically, if everyone has a different  composition of genes then it is less likely for disease and sicknesses to travel. Lets take H1N1 for example, some people caught H1N1 and got terribly sick while others caught it and didn't end up being very sick. This is because our immune systems are different due to the difference in genes in each individual. That is also the reason that if your children come home from school and become sick you are very likely to catch the sickness as well because your immune systems are alike.  The video also talked about the nature of men and women and how they look compared to the kind of relationship that is sought. The  scientists in the video took 7 different women and showed them pictures of men's faces. The studies came up that when the women were asked to find a man they would be most likely to have a short term relationship with, they picked a very masculine looking man. When asked to find someone they think would be suitable for a long-term relationship they most often picked men who had "softer" eyes and less defined jaw bones. So basically a gentler looking man as apposed to a more aggressive looking man. I thought that was pretty neat!

Lately I have become a little obsessed with a song called "Fishin' in the Dark" by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. I really like their music because it is the kind of country that almost anyone who likes country will like.  It also  makes a great line dance! ***A TIP FOR THE MAN**** Most women love a man who can dance very well :) To me, it just makes them that much more attractive. ;) haha Another song I have been listening to a lot lately is "Stay" by Sugarland. It is a song that I instantly fell in love with when it first came out 5 years ago last month. It is about a woman who is tired of being with a man who is married. Many people did not like this song because the lead singer in Sugarland has a somewhat nasal voice.

Grad Year!

Hey, Everyone!! I just really want to share my excitement with you about this being my last year of high school!!!! All year I have just been really pumped! Tonight, I actually went to my school and purchased a grad ring!!! I am so uber excited about it!! I went on jostens.com and designed my own ring about a week ago and I immediately loved it. I saw the price and new I was getting it! I asked my Dad though if he could pay for some of it. He agreed to pay for half. So we went to the meeting tonight and "The Ring Man" had a whole bunch of the ring models (samples) and the ring I wanted to get was there. It looks amazing!!! My Dad went to put the deposit down but instead of doing that, he payed for the ring in full!!! I didn't have to pay for any of it!!! XD I could scream I am so excited! So my ring will be here on my hand in about 6-8 weeks! Here is a picture, it is not as big as it seems.

I can't wait to go dress shopping! I am a little bit nervous about an escort though. I don't know who would ask me (if anyone) or even if I would want to go with them. Also, what do you do if a guy asks you to be his escort but you really do not want to be? Hmm, being a teenager is soooo hard :P  So far though this is my favourite dress that I have looked at online.

My Doggies :D

Hey, Y'all! I decided that I have blogged about my cats, so why not my dogs?! I love my dogs, they are all so cute ^.^ I hope you think they are as cute as I do!

First and oldest is our Collie/Lab cross, Mickey. We live on a farm so she is our number one protector of the land! She is nine, almost 10, years old. She loves people,  as long as they aren't being suspicious. She stays up night and day barking at things that cross our land such as coyotes, rabbits and foxes! I love her, when you pet her, she "talks" to you! Our guard dog!
Mickey
Next on the list is Tink. Tink is short for Tinker Bell. Tink is a Maltese/Terrier cross (we don't know what type of terrier). She also only has one eye. Tink has what we would like to call "Little-Dog Syndrome". She thinks she's 10 feet tall and bulletproof when it comes to enemies or other dogs. Her previous owners had her and two other larger dogs. One day, they went to work and when they came home Tink's left eye was literally hanging out of her eye socket. The owners brought her into the clinic my Mom worked at and they tried to fix it. We brought her home with her eye sewed shut and looked after her for a few days while we hoped her eye would be recovered. It didn't, once the stitches were taken out her eye looked like sheep eye (the pupil was a sideways rectangle). The owner's wanted to just put her down, not even take her to the SPCA. However, my Mom and her boss convinced them to let my Mom take her home. We payed for the surgery and now she is a lovely and loyal pet. :)
Tink and Chiquita (Beeta)
Next is Chiquita. Chiquita (said Chickeeta), or we call her Beeta, is a Rat Terrier. Although she looks like a Chihuahua, don't get that confused with the long snout and long legs.  Beeta is a ball of energy! She loves to get excited almost every time you look at her! When she gets excited, she "dances" on her toes. Have you ever seen "Happy Feet"? Yes, that is what she does :) so cute. She also loves her blanky, it can be 30 degrees Celsius outside (For all you Americans out there, that is hot for my area) and she would still want to be under a blanket! Beeta was also a "rescue" dog. When she was 2 years old, her previous owners were too lazy to take her down 2 flights of stairs for her to go outside. What they did was put her on the roof of the second floor balcony. She either jumped or fell from the roof and broke her right-front leg. She spent three days in -25 degrees Celsius (that is cold!!)  weather by herself in her very short hair coat. A woman found her and brought her into the clinic. The owners, a WEEK, later asked the SPCA if anyone had found there dog. They were notified that their dog had been brought to the clinic, but they may not have her back. Meanwhile, The Biscuit Fund had covered the cost of Chiquita's leg plate and surgery and awarded her the 2009 SPCA Animal Courage Award, she shared this award with a cat. Since the owners were no longer allowed to be in possession of any animals, we brought in Chiquita and gave her a better home.

The last and youngest dog we have is Jewel. She is a Saint Bernard/Great Pyrenees cross. Jewel is also the dumbest acting clever dog you will ever meet!  She has this walk that I have never seen another dog do in my whole life! She sort of saunters around but when she comes up to you to play she walks almost sideways! Jewel is only 2 years old so she hasn't quite grown up yet :P but she sure make a good guard dog! She follows Mickey everywhere constantly watching what she is doing and then copying her. For a while after we got her and started putting her outside she wouldn't leave the deck at night. We thought surely that she would never leave the deck at night, ever! Until one night we heard this ferocious barking coming from our yard along with Mickey so Mom got up and shined the flashlight and sure enough, it was Jewel! Of course, as soon as she saw Mom she was right up on the deck looking for lovings. For a long time she wouldn't move for vehicles. When we took the quad out we would have to go the speed of her trot because she would not move even if we just sped up! She is a quick learner, despite her dumb habits (some she has broken) :P Here is our sweetheart!
Jewel
Don't forget to donate to your local SPCA's and if you want or need a new pet, look for a rescue before you buy from a store, a stray can make just as good a pet as a brand new puppy from the pet store!

Air Cadets!

Good Evening, Everybody! How are all of you going? Today was good day, but it was long. The first day of school after a 4 day weekend is always long though :) I usually go to Air Cadets on Tuesdays. I am a part of the 353 Mile Zero Squadron. I have been since I was 12. I love it! If the is a squadron near you then go ahead! Try it! At cadets we march, we learn, we help and we make new friends! My favourite parts of cadets is band and drill. In band, I played the snare drum. I really enjoy it because it is something I am good at but also still have to work at. Also, it is not something that if you mess up everyone knows. You can play and if you end up off beat a little you can quickly correct yourself without anyone noticing! Drill is also one of my favourite activities at cadets. Drill is marching. I like it because it is also something very quick to learn but can always be improved. When it is done right, It looks amazing! Could you imagine 20 people all doing the same thing at the exact same time in the exact same way?! It is so awesome, and there are competitions to go to, to show other squadrons what you've got! Anyways, I didn't go yesterday :( and it was a sports night too! I wasn't very excited about it last week but when my sergeant reminded me on Sunday I was pumped!!!  Then my social teacher gave us this big project :( "My History Hero" I had to pick someone from before WW1 and answer 10 questions in paragraph form on them. So that's how I spent my Tuesday night. How did you spend yours?

Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Everybody!!! I have always loved Thanksgiving. I like it because it is a great reason to spend time with your family and visit and inquire about how their years have gone! My Thanksgiving was great! My grandparents came and visited and my aunt and uncle and their kids came out and had supper with us (a few times :P). Last night we had a wonderful turkey dinner, and two very delicious pies (that I made :P). I have often wondered what Thanksgiving is really about? In elementary school you learn that you have to be thankful, and that you eat turkey and pumpkin pie, etc. Well I decided to look it up!
On January 31, 1957, Canadian Parliament announced "A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed – to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October."

Thanksgiving, in Canada, is the celebration of a good harvest and other things during the year.  It was brought over from Europe as the Oktoberfest. A celebration involving singing hymns and reading verses from the bible that relate to the Jewish holiday Sukkot. (click to read what it is) Now it is seen as a day where people get together with friends and family to give thanks for the food they were able to buy and to give thanks for being safe and alive. It is also seen as a weekend to get away.

This has nothing to do with Thanksgiving but, last night my granny and I were looking at her pictures on her camera and she is about o turn it off when she says "Oh! Wanna see my studmuffin?" I looked at her and just started laughing and laughing! My granny said studmuffin! xD It was a picture of my grandpa in bright orange swim trunks, grey dress socks and her big sunglasses haha!! It was so funny!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

MRROOOOWW! ^.^

Hey, everybody! I want to post about my animals. I love animals soo much! My aspiration is to become a Registered Animal Health Technologist (RAHT), just like my mom! Most of my animals are what we call "rescues". We call them rescues because either people didn't want them or they were abandoned or the previous owners were unfit. I have 12 pets. I am starting with my kitties ^.^. I want to start with my cats because they are my favorite animal :3 My oldest cat is Jaxson. He is 25lbs and between 10 and 12 years old. When we moved into a house 8 years ago, he was there. He just hung around and lived in an old truck in my neighbours yard. He was very skinny so my mom called the SPCA but they were full. We began giving him food until the SPCA opened a spot. Mom told us if the SPCA does not have room by the time it snows we will take him in. Two months drifted by and the snow fell and the SPCA still did not have room. This is how we came to own him (or rather he owns us :P) He is the sweetest cat you will ever meet! I definitely consider him "mine". When I pick him up he hugs my neck and stares into my eyes. You can tell he is quite the ladies man haha!
Jaxson
The next oldest cat we have is a black and white domestic. Her name is Fiddlestix, and she is one special kitty :) She is completely blind and only has one eye.  She was born blind and was brought to the SPCA. She spent all of her kitten hood there until they brought her to the clinic to be put down (the SPCA was going to put her down because nobody was willing to take her home). My mom's coworkers were bugging her about nobody wanting this poor cat, "No one wants a blind cat, Jenn." lol So mom said "Oh fiddlesticks" and decided to bring her home. That is how she got her name. We were told that if she could not find the litter box or her food, then we would have to take her back and put her down. We let her do her own thing and about an hour later we noticed we hadn't seen her in a while. So we checked the litter box and food bowl we left for her and she was no where to be found. It turns out she was downstairs (two flights), she had used the other cats litter box and was eating his food (this was another cat we had at the time named Chip, we found Jaxson after we had Fiddlestix). A year later we noticed her eye was periodically getting weepy and she would scratch at it. The problem was that that eye was too small and her eyelid would fold in and make the eye become infected. We had the eye removed (since it was disfunctional anyways) and that solved the problem. Here she is! Aren't her whiskers great?!
Fiddlestix
The next cat I will introduce is Molly. She is a brown-grey tabby. She was brought into the clinic when she was just a kitten. A woman had found her in a snowbank. Her ears and tail were frozen! So, they looked after her and needed to find a home for her, but we didn't want to take in yet another animal (at this time we had 5). We managed to convince my grandparents to take her in. My grandpa was totally against the idea, he said "We don't need another animal". Eventually, like I said, we convinced him and she became one spoiled cat (My grandpa always spoils his animals :P) She had a very happy home, but she wasn't the most friendly cat around. About a year ago, my grandparents moved away and couldn't bring Molly with them so we took her in :) She is doing well, and by being around more animals and people (our household is much bigger) she has become much more sociable.
Molly

The last cat on the list is Ghost. She is also special, in more ways than one! First of all, she is all white with blue eyes. This combination of genes in cats, more often than not, leads to deafness (which Ghost is). She also had another owner before us. The lady who used to own her came to us because she could not stop Ghost from getting outside. Usually that wouldn't be a problem, except she lived in town and Ghost loved the warm pavement. So we took ghost in and she sometimes escaped outside but we always got her back in. Another thing about Ghost is that she is a little insane. Sometimes, she will just look off in the distance then take off chasing after something invisible! At night, she will do this for hours. Also she always thinks she is starving, yet she is fat. We give her her daily amount of food but you could swear by her behaviour we never feed her! Before bed, you have to give her a few crumbles of food or she will sit outside your door and very loudly meow for hours, or until you get up and give them to her. Our Beautiful Ghost. (sorry about the red eyes).
Ghost

Cellulitis D:

Blog 5! I am just rippin' away! :P Now that you know something about my past 2 years and a little more, I can start my day to day life. I sound like I'm cleaning xD So on Tuesday I developed this humongous pimple (the size of a nickel!) beside my nose. I was putting polysporin and Watkins medicated ointment on it, I was putting hot compresses on it and even cold compresses! It wasn't getting any better, in fact it was getting a bit more sore. My uncle came out to our house for thanksgiving and he was saying how my aunt got one and she had to go in and they put a needle in it and injected something that made it go away. I am TERRIFIED of needles, I actually legitimately have a phobia of needles. Anyways, I woke up this morning with swelling up to my eye and down to my nose :( My nose is actually somewhat pushed over! So I spent two hours in emergency at the hospital and finally the doctor came. I bleieve he was Iranian and had the best unibrow I have ever seen xD! He asked me if I scratched it, and I said yes. Then he asked me which hand. I lifted my hand and he slapped it! He told me "Don't do that!" LOL! He also said that we had to relieve the pressure as soon as possible and left. I was scared, I was sure he was going to bring a needle so I teared up and was about to cry. Then the doctor came in with only a prescription (Whew!) I was so glad! Now I have ointment, painkillers and anti-biotics. :) good combo! So that is the exciting bit of my day so far. Also, I am very sorry for a good friend of mine who is currently down on his luck. I hope his dog had great life and now it can be a young pup again :) It can only go up from here!
